about us

The Czech Film Commission, established in 2004, serves primarily international feature film, television, commercial and video production companies and filmmakers by providing consultation, guidance and contacts. We are the most comprehensive resource for information about film-making locally, from legal requirements and permits, to talent and tips on where to throw your wrap party.

The Czech Film Commission serves as a liaison between local and national institutions and companies, helping co-ordinate the work of those people who are involved in providing film production services to visiting filmmakers. We link international film-makers to the local audiovisual infrastructure and to local authorities. And the communication goes two ways. We also listen to the developing needs of film industry professionals and communicate those to municipal and state institutions.

Our services include:

  • providing all relevant information about conditions and possibilities for filming in the Czech Republic
  • connecting producers with the right local partners for their projects
  • offering contact information for local service providers, crews, facilities and other services
  • assisting with preliminary location scouting
  • acting as liaison with local authorities
  • consulting on financing and co-production possibilities

We are part of the Czech Film Chamber and a founding member of the European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN).

Our activities are supported by the Ministry of Culture Czech Republic.

Letter from the Ministry of Culture

Dear Members of the Film Community:

Welcome to our country!

The Czech Republic has everything it takes to make your production a success — an experienced, friendly and cooperative labor force, a talent pool with depth and diversity, a plentiful supply of equipment rentals, and a variety of locations to suit every look.

To facilitate your needs, we also have the Czech Film Commission, whose diligent, seasoned staff works in concert with all municipal and national ministries and sister agencies to provide the help you need to meet the demands of your schedule and budget.

We appreciate your business and will go out of our way to get it while making your work experience here a success. Producers in every medium, from still photography to commercials, from student films to major motion pictures, have filmed here in the Czech Republic — from our capital city, Prague, to fields and farms nationwide.

The opportunities for filmmaking in the Czech Republic are endless, and the more you examine the possibilities, the more likely you are to bring your project here.

Our goal is to further our reputation as a resourceful, cooperative country in which to film. We hope you take us up on our offer. We are certain you will be glad you did.

Sincerely,

Helena Fraňková
director, Media and Audiovisual Department
