Minister of Culture Daniel Herman and Minister of Finance Andrej Babiš have agreed to increase the budget for film incentives.

The State Cinematography Fund now has an additional CZK 300m (USD 15m / EUR 11m) for the 2014 and will offer international filmmakers CZK 800m (USD 40m / EUR 29m) in rebates in 2015.

Film incentives, effective as of 21 June 2010, enable producers who shoot their film or TV project in the Czech Republic to get up to 20% rebate on qualifying Czech spend.

The incentive is available to feature, TV, animation and documentary films. Rebates are issued at the end of production upon submission of audited statements of costs incurred and paid out in the form of cash grants.
