Despite the recent floods in Prague, the Ridley Scott-produced Child 44 is still scheduled to commence filming in the Czech capital next week. Featuring a stellar cast including Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, and Noomi Rapace, the film is based on the novel by Rob Smith. Set in the Soviet Union during the Stalin era, Hardy plays a disgraced Soviet military police officer investigating a series of child murders. Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) and produced by Scott Free Productions, the film is expected to start its 75-day shoot on 10 June. Also producing the film are Prague’s Stillking Films, Summit Entertainment and Worldview Entertainment. Season three of the papal period drama Borgia (not to be confused with The Borgias TV series starring Jeremy Irons, which has now ended) is also filming in the Czech capital. Shooting started on the 12 x 60 series started last week, and it’s expected to film for 133 days over the course of ten months. Film United (co-founded by Star Wars producer Rick McCallum) is behind the series, with Michael Schwarz producing.
