MORAVIAN-SILESIAN REGION

The Moravian-Silesian Region Funding Programme for the Support for Filming Audiovisual Works 2019-2021 was approved in September 2019.

Calls:

  • OPEN CALL: deadline for submission of applications 1-15 October 2019, budget CZK 5,000,000

Objective:

  • to strengthen the local economy, competitiveness, and the region’s attractiveness to the domestic and international audiovisual industry
  • to support the “Moravian-Silesian Region” as a modern, cultural, film-friendly region through the use of audiovisual projects with marketing and promotional potential

Eligible projects:

  • feature and documentary films, series and episodes of series
  • intended for cinema distribution or television transmission and television retransmission (video on demand)

Criteria:

  • the manner and extent of utilization of locations, local services, the public, the local cultural and creative industries, and local film professionals
  • the total amount of funds spent in the region
  • the presentation of the region in the audiovisual work, content and thematic linking the project to the region
  • the total number of shooting days scheduled in the region
  • the promotional and marketing potential for the region
  • the form and extent of distribution

ZLÍN REGION

Zlín Region Funding Programme for Support of Audiovisual Productions

Calls:

  • 2019 (deadline for submission ofapplications 22 August 2019): budget CZK 10 million
  • 2017/2018 (deadline for applications 31 January 2018): 6 supported projects, total amount of grants CZK 10 million

Objective:

  • to maintain or improve the traditional creative sector
  • to generate interest in the Zlín Region
  • to use the potential of the Zlín Region for the development of the audiovisual sector

Eligible projects:

  • feature and animated films intended for cinema distribution or television broadcasting (>70 min)
  • documentary films intended for cinema distribution or television broadcasting (>70 min)
  • fictional, scripted TV series or episodes (>25 min/episode)

Criteria:

  • quality of project and team
  • significance and contribution of project
  • project organisation and financing
  • regional effect and marketing potential

ZLÍN

Film Fund of the City of Zlín

Calls:

  • 2019 – script development (deadline for submission ofapplications 26 July 2019), budget CZK 1.4 million
  • 2018 – script development (April 2018): 8 supported projects, total amount of grants CZK 900,000

Objective:

  • to maintain or develop the traditional creative/audiovisual sector in Zlín
  • to generate interest in Zlín and use its potential for audiovisual productions

Eligible projects:

  • films and series

Criteria:

  • stories originating in Zlin’s past or present
  • audiovisual works depicting Zlin

PRAGUE

Prague Film Fund

Calls:

  • 1/2019: deadline for submission of applications 20 July 2019
  • 3/2018 (October 2018): 3 supported projects, total amount of grants CZK 2.5m
  • 2/2018 (June 2018): 4 supported projects, total amount of grants CZK 7.8m
  • 1/2018 (January 2018): 9 supported projects, total amount of grants CZK 9m 
  • 2017 (May 2017): 4 supported projects, total amount of grants CZK 5.3m

Objective:

  • to attract film and television projects with marketing potential to promote the city

Eligible projects:

  • feature, documentary, and animated films, series or episodes in a series
  • international co-productions or foreign productions

Criteria:

  • the city of Prague depicted as Prague
  • international cinema distribution, television broadcasting, television rebroadcasting, or a video on demand service

SOUTH MORAVIA

South Moravian Film Fund

Calls:

  • 1/2019 – production (February 2019), 13 supported projects, total amount of grants CZK 9m
  • 2/2018 – script development (October 2018): 8 supported projects, total amount of grants CZK 500,000
  • 1/2018 – production (May 2018): 12 supported projects, total amount of grants CZK 8.5m

Objective:

  • to support development of the audiovisual industry
  • to boost employment in creative industries and keep talent in town
  • to support the local economy and tourism sector
  • to highlight Brno as a creative place

Eligible projects:

  • feature, animated, and documentary films, series, online formats

Criteria:

  • amount of production expenditure in the region
  • promotional and marketing potential of the project for the city of Brno and South Moravia
  • level of national/international distribution
  • involvement of local audiovisual professionals
  • use of local services
  • 100% of the grant must be spent in the region

OLOMOUC REGION

Calls:

  • 2019: application deadline 28 February 2019, budget CZK 800,000
  • 2018: two supported projects, total amount of grants CZK 390,000

Objective:

  • to motivate filmmakers to shoot in the region
  • to support the local economy, tourism, and marketing of the region through film and television

Eligible projects:

  • feature and documentary film (>70 min)
  • TV film (>60 min)
  • fictional, scripted TV series or episodes (>30 min/episode)
  • TV documentary film (>40 min)

Criteria:

  • size and scope of shoots on location in the Olomouc Region
  • potential for use in marketing the region for tourism
