Global Production Award Nomination in the Film Commission of the Year category comes on the 20th anniversary of the Czech Film Commission

On April 10, we were pleased to learn that the Czech Film Commission had been nominated for the Global Production Award in the Film Commission of the Year category. This nomination comes on the anniversary of our establishment and we see it as a recognition of our 20 years of effort to create a film-friendly environment in the Czech Republic and to promote local locations and filmmakers within the global film industry.

Prestigious awards to be presented at the Cannes Film Festival

The Global Production Awards focus on the professionals behind the productions and locations of great films and series. The prestigious film awards are presented by Screen International magazine, published by Media Business Insight, publisher of the film industry's leading trade magazines including Screen International, KFTV, The Knowledge, World of Locations, and Broadcast.

We were nominated for the award along with our colleagues from the Andalucia Film Commission, the Cherokee Film Commission, and Film AlUla. The awards will be presented on May 20 at Festival de Cannes.

The Czech Film Commission celebrates its 20th anniversary

The Czech Film Commission was established in 2004 as an initiative of the Audiovisual Producers‘ Association. Initially, it operated within the Czech Film Chamber, later as part of the National Film Archive, and since 2017 it has been a department of the Czech Film Fund

The first national film commissioner was Ludmila Claussová, who played a key role in the establishment of EUFCN - the European Film Commissions Network in 2007. Pavlína Žipková who took over the leadership of the Czech Film Commission from Ludmila was the EUFCN Vice President from 2018 to 2019 and President from 2020 to 2022.

Nominations for the Outstanding Film Commission Award in 2023

Last year, the Czech Film Commission received further international recognition in the form of a nomination for the LMGI Award in the category of Outstanding Film Commission presented by the Location Managers Guild International. The LMGI awards highlight the creative contribution of location professionals and film commissions to audiovisual works from around the world.

Thanks to the regional film offices

Every audiovisual project, be it a film or a series, is built on the close cooperation of a huge number of people, and we would like to thank those whose helpfulness and professionalism is essential to our work.

Particular mention must be made of our regional film offices, of which there are currently 12 in the Czech Republic. Their mission is to find suitable locations, filmmakers, and the necessary suppliers and craftsmen in their regions that production companies need for their work.

Investment follows fruitful cooperation

When cooperation is successful, the result is billions of Czech crowns of investment from foreign productions, thousands of Czechs employed on projects or as contractors, and, ideally, inspirational film art or quality entertainment.
