Stella Sonkova is a Prague based production designer working between different genres and forms — from art house indie movies to superbowl commercials.
She made her feature debut with the drama Victim (2022, Michal Blaško) which was screened in Venice, Toronto and Busan. This was followed by the miniseries Suspicion (directed by Michal Blaško), which premiered at the Berlinale and in Karlovy Vary. She collaborated with Tomáš Klein on the film adaptation of the novel Sensitive man (2024), which premiered in Karlovy Vary, earning her a nomination for a Czech Lion Award.
Most recently she completed the films Little thieves (by Ondřej Hudeček) and Cowgirl (by Michal Blaško), both of which are awaiting their premieres. As supervising art director, she collaborated with production designer Sabine Hviid on Thomas Vinterberg’s Danish miniseries Families Like Ours (Zentropa, 2024).
